The Loken Foundation Advocacy

The Loken Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to break down silos and barriers that prevent youth from reaching their highest potential. We strive to create a supportive and empowering environment for young people from all backgrounds, and are dedicated to providing resources and access to education, mentorship, and leadership programs. At The Loken Foundation, we believe that everyone should have the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background.

We are committed to educational equity, family engagement, and systemic change.  We are passionate about our mission and hope to make a real impact in the lives of many.

Our current focus is on the following initiatives:

Core Advocacy Priorities:

a. Equitable Educational Funding

  • Promote transparency and accountability in LCFF allocations.

  • Highlight research and case studies on misuse of funds affecting underserved communities.

  • Connect to legislative monitoring (e.g., AB 715, SB 691).

b. Family and Community Engagement

  • Elevating family voices in decision-making.

  • Partnerships with CA-FEN, NAFSCE, and community-driven advocacy groups.

  • Tools and models (e.g., parent engagement frameworks, community school models).

c. Student Well-Being & Culturally Responsive Practices

  • Addressing push-out, suspension, and disproportionate discipline rates.

  • Promoting SEL and culturally responsive curriculum adoption.

  • Integration of BLEBS as scalable interventions.

d. Educational Equity for Underserved Populations

  • Focus on Black, Latino, foster youth, English learners, and low-income students.

  • Policy positions on state-level initiatives (LCFF, CCSPP, Title III).

  • Call for stronger protections against systemic inequities.
